OverviewRittal‑CSM Ltd is looking for a Design Engineer to join our Engineering team in Plymouth. This role involves the mechanical design lifecycle of IT cabinets, enclosures and associated accessories, from concept to product launch, in a fast‑paced, mass‑production environment with a strong focus on design for manufacture, cost efficiency and engineering compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Produce 3‑D models and concepts and 2‑D production drawings for sheet metal components, weldments and assemblies.
- Support product updates and NPI projects.
- Chair and contribute to cross‑functional design reviews internally and with customers.
- Manage customer relationships and expectations relating to product design.
- Ensure designs meet manufacturing, performance, cost and quality requirements.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement and problem‑solving initiatives.
- Work closely with internal teams including engineering, sales, procurement and production.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline (or significant relevant experience).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar design engineering role.
- Experience with CAD software (Creo advantageous).
- Experience with PDM systems (Windchill advantageous).
- Knowledge of sheet metal and fabrication design.
- Understanding of DFMA for mass production environments.
- Proficiency in tolerance analysis and D‑FMEA.
- Proficient with MS Office.
- Keyshot and FEA knowledge desirable but not essential.
