A leading Maritime business in Plymouth is seeking a Junior Finance Analyst to support the Commercial Lead and Finance team in tracking, evaluating, and reporting on the financial performance of key projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their finance career to gain exposure to project accounting and commercial finance, while developing advanced analytical skills and building a long-term career path in Finance.
The Role
The Junior Finance Analyst will maintain accurate financial data, update monthly trackers, and provide analysis to support effective decision-making across multiple projects. Working closely with Finance and Project teams, you’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate financial oversight and supporting future project success.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to the monthly financial reporting cycle
* Support the preparation of forecasts and project financial plans
* Generate cash flow profiles and monitor milestone payments
* Work with Finance and Commercial teams to support invoicing
* Update monthly financial trackers, budgets, and timesheets in real time
* Ensure accuracy and integrity of project financial data, resolving discrepancies
* Provide ad-hoc analysis to support decision making
* Assist with compliance, audit preparation, and reporting improvements
Requirements
* Strong analytical and numerical ability with excellent attention to detail
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas)
* Ability to handle multiple data sources and reporting systems
* Strong communication skills – able to explain financial performance clearly
* Organised, proactive and able to meet deadlines
Desirable
* Experience in a finance, accounts, or budget-related role
* Exposure to engineering, maritime, defence, or project-driven environments
* Knowledge of compliance, audit, or PMO processes
* Degree in Finance, Business, or Commercial discipline (or equivalent experience)
