Plymouth City Council is offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Environmental Health and Licensing team as an Apprentice Environmental Health Officer.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain a fully funded Level 6 Environmental Health Practitioner degree (apprenticeship route) whilst gaining invaluable hands on experience across a range of environmental health functions.
Responsibilities- undertake an accredited university programme leading to a recognised environmental health qualification
- support a wide range of environmental health activities including inspections, investigations and enforcement work
- respond to customer enquiries and provide advice to residents and businesses
- assist in the investigation of statutory breached including preparing case notes and evidence gathering
- develop the knowledge and competencies required to become a fully qualified Environmental Health Officer
You will gain experience across multiple areas of environmental health, working on cases ranging from routine inspections or investigations to more complex cases, depending on your developing skills and competence.
Candidate Profile- is passionate about public health, safety and environmental protection,
- has excellent written and verbal communication skills, professional attitude and customer focused
- has good attention to detail, and understanding of IT
- is motivated and organised to manage work and study commitments
- has a full driving licence
You must have relevant qualifications to be able to secure a place on a suitable apprenticeship degree programme starting in September 2026.
