We are seeking an Appeals and Quality Manager to support both the quality of decisions made by our Council Tax Billing and Benefits Team, and to lead on dealing with appeals.
About the RoleReporting to the Subsidy and Over payments Manager, you will deal with appeals and manage the checking regime, ensuring the delivery of high-quality decisions and excellent customer outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:- Deal with formal appeals against decisions on Council Tax liability, Local Council Tax Reduction (Support), Housing Benefit and Discretionary Payments:
Review decisions and prepare submissions to an independent Tribunal. - Present appeals to independent Tribunals being Valuation Tribunal or Tribunal Services.
- Manage the checking regime for the quality of administration of decisions relating to Council Tax liability, Local Council Tax Reduction (Support), Housing Benefit and Discretionary Payments.
- Manage the Appeals and Quality Officer.
- Supporting the leadership of the Council’s Council Tax, Housing Benefit, Local Council Tax Reduction (Support) and discretionary awards services.
- Providing expert advice to staff.
We’re looking for a motivated, detailed orientated and confident senior practitioner with an extensive and in-depth knowledge of the regulations and law for either all or some of the following areas:
Council Tax liability, Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Reduction (Support).
You are currently or have recently (within the last year) worked in any of the following Council Departments:
Council Tax liability, Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Reduction (Support), or in a senior or management role.
You will have demonstrable experience of administering all aspects of either Council Tax liability, Housing Benefit or Local Council Tax Reduction (Support).
Location:You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.
