Advanced Specialist Pharmacist – Women & Children’s Services
We are looking for a motivated clinical pharmacist with interest in Neonatology, Paediatrics or Women & Children services.
Key responsibilities- Provide high-quality patient‑focused clinical pharmacy service across Women and Children Care Group.
- Collaborate with Lead Pharmacists to deliver specialist pharmacy input.
- Undertake teaching and clinical supervision of pharmacy staff and other healthcare staff.
- Deliver specialist clinical pharmacy advice to specialty areas including NICU, Paediatric Oncology and Paediatric Outpatients.
- Work with Lead Pharmacists and Associate Chief Pharmacist to develop clinical pharmacy services and define non‑medical prescriber roles.
- Support chief pharmacists in monitoring drug expenditure, delivering cost‑improvement projects and pharmaceutical budgeting.
- Develop, update and implement clinical pharmacy policy and protocols.
- Lead induction and training for pharmacists in Women and Children care areas.
- Engage in practice research and quality improvement initiatives.
- Act as a clinical pharmacist role model and leader within multidisciplinary teams.
- Practice as an independent prescriber and progress towards advanced clinical practice.
- Band 7 to Band 8a progression opportunity; candidates meeting Band 7/8a qualifications but lacking full experience may be considered.
- Experience in women and children pharmacy services (neonatal, paediatric, maternity or gynaecology). Internal Trust staff, NHS At Risk staff or those with priority experience are preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to provide high‑level clinical pharmacy practice and team leadership.
- Experience with non‑medical prescribing and independent prescribing expected.
- Evidence of teaching, supervision and engagement in practice research.
Salary:
Recruitment & Retention Premia up to £5,000 payable on appointment and a relocation allowance (subject to eligibility). RRP for external candidates only.
Recruitment supported by advanced training and progression to Band 8a when milestones are met.
Location:
University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. The Trust offers comprehensive secondary and tertiary care with partnership with University of Plymouth and Plymouth Marjon University.
