Support Worker

Location:

Plymouth
💰 Rate: £16.05 LTD per hour
📅

Contract:

12-week temporary contract


Hours:

37.5 hours per week

The Role

As a Support Worker, you will provide high-quality support to individuals within accommodation services and the wider community. You will help residents develop life skills, manage their tenancies, and access local services that enable them to live independently. You will work closely with residents and partner agencies to ensure people receive the support they need while maintaining a safe and secure environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver person-centred support to individuals within supported accommodation or through visiting support.
  • Develop and review individual support and safety plans, identifying goals and barriers.
  • Support residents with housing issues, welfare benefits, budgeting and tenancy sustainment.
  • Work collaboratively with external agencies and professionals to support customer outcomes.
  • Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records using housing management systems.
  • Facilitate group sessions and one-to-one support activities.
  • Conduct risk assessments and support customers to manage risks effectively.
  • Promote independence and encourage engagement with employment, education or training opportunities.
Requirements
  • Experience supporting individuals with support needs within housing, social care or community services.
  • Knowledge of supported housing, safeguarding and person-centred support approaches.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and prioritise effectively.
  • Basic IT skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health needs, substance misuse, homelessness or complex needs would be advantageous.
