A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Hackney is seeking an experienced and reliable School Caretaker to join the team from September 2026 for the full academic year.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the school site is safe, secure, clean, and well maintained, helping to provide an excellent learning environment for pupils and staff.

Location: Hackney, London
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full Academic Year (September 2026 – July 2027)
Hours: Full-Time, Monday–Friday
Pay: £16.00–£18.00 per hour (depending on experience)

• Opening and securing the school site each day.
• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs.
• Maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the school grounds.
• Completing routine health and safety inspections.
• Monitoring heating, lighting, and other site services.
• Setting up classrooms and halls for school events.
• Liaising with contractors and reporting maintenance issues.
• Assisting with deliveries and general site duties.
• Undertaking basic outdoor maintenance, including litter picking and gardening.
• Supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the school premises.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience as a School Caretaker, Site Manager, or Maintenance Operative.
• Good practical DIY and maintenance skills.
• A sound understanding of health and safety procedures.
• The ability to work independently and manage their workload effectively.
• A proactive, reliable, and professional approach.

An enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references will be required in line with safer recruitment practices.
