Unit Facilitator

Job Description

As a Unit Facilitator at Mars, you will drive operational excellence in one or more animal care units, ensuring high standards of welfare, efficiency, and data quality
. This role focuses on team leadership without direct reports
, using lean manufacturing principles to streamline processes, optimize resources, and improve workflows. You will collaborate with multiple stakeholders and oversee key operational and continuous improvement initiatives, to enhance unit performance.

Waltham Petcare Science Institute, full-time of site

Working Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week, and performing as a senior site supervisor for 12 weekends a year & up to 3 bank holidays.

£33,000 - 37,500, annual bonus, benefits

• Experience in research operations, animal care management, or manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, process optimization, and operational excellence.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills to drive efficiency.

• Oversee unit operations, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and high welfare standards.
• Apply lean principles to optimize work processes and eliminate inefficiencies.
• Lead daily team briefings, assigning tasks and ensuring smooth workflows.
• Monitor data quality, operational metrics, and process performance.
• Coach and train associates, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Manage scheduling and resource allocation to maximize productivity.
• Identify and implement operational improvements in safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Supervise a team of approximately 25 associates and 5 contractors, fostering a collaborative, high‑performance culture.
