Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for an experienced Toolmaker to join a well-established manufacturing team in the Roborough area of Plymouth. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity offering competitive pay, bonus potential, and overtime.

You will play a key role in maintaining, repairing, and improving production tooling, jigs, and fixtures - ensuring maximum performance, quality, and reliability across the shop floor.

Key Duties

Carry out reactive and planned tooling maintenance (press tooling, jigs, fixtures, and machine parts).

Design and build new jigs and fixtures.

Drive continuous improvement to reduce waste and maximise uptime.

Support new product introductions.

Work closely with Production and Maintenance teams.

Record maintenance activity via CMMS and manage spare parts.

Requirements

Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Toolmaking.

Strong machining experience (CNC lathe, CNC mill, surface grinding).

Toolmaking experience within a machine shop environment.

Proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong communication skills.

Desirable: CAD/3D modelling, tooling design, wire/spark erosion, TIG welding.

What We Offer

£19.22-£21.97 per hour depending on experience.
