Co-Founder and Director at Radar Recruitment

Due to an internal promotion, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for a talented Senior Operations professional to join a leading FMCG company, based in Kent.

This role will oversee all aspects of operations, directly line managing Production, Warehousing, Engineering and allocations, ensuring a safe, compliant, efficient working environment and coaching teams to high levels of performance.

So why join?

  • There is significant opportunity for career advancement - the role has become available due to the promotion of the previous candidate to a Directorship role across other sites. The business has a track record of promoting talented people in positions of wider responsibility and there is room for substantial organic growth, both on this site and beyond.
  • The business cares about its people. Every business talks about a 'supportive culture'. Values are hugely important to this business and they underpin everything they do - internally, with customers and with suppliers.
  • Strong infrastructure - new positions are being created all the time and the wider operational infrastructure around S&OP, supply chain and technical/quality is excellent.
  • A continuous improvement mentality within the business. The site isn't broken, nor a turnaround situation, but they are very much on a 'good to great' journey. Continuous improvement is going to be key, both in mindset and practical application.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience working as an Operations Manager, Site Manager, Factory Manager or General Manager in an FMCG environment (ideally food, drink, fresh produce)
  • Strong understanding of food safety and quality standards.
  • Experience of lean manufacturing/continuous improvement.
  • A coaching management style with a track record of building high performing teams.
  • Experience of logistics/warehouse management in addition to core production management expertise.
  • Financially astute - capable of controlling costs, managing budgets and optimising the overall financial performance of the plant.
  • Strategic mentality capable of future proofing the site and with an awareness of what is to come.
