Macular Nurse Specialist NHS AfC:
Band 6
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to develop our retina service, caring for patients with macular and retia disease. We run one-stop and fast-track clinics including assessment, consultation and intravitreal injections treatment and also anti-VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) lists.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate individual who is keen to develop their skills, with support from our experienced team. We provide a variety of learning experiences, such as intravitreal injections and assisting clinicians with consultation. Our nursing team works closely with medical staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary team, to provide a high standard of safe and effective care.
Each shift has a senior team member in charge who provides support to the team, and organises patient flow to enable the clinics to run smoothly.
As part of the service improvement and development plan, Band 6 Nurse Specialists will have the opportunity to submit their expression of interest to be trained and progressed to band 7 level in Macular Nursing. Further information about these requirements and pathway can be discussed, and will involve completion of university further study and qualifications.
Full time or part time hours available
Interview:
July 21st
The successful candidate will work within the Macular Suite, providing care in a clinic environment in the Eye Outpatient department and potentially an additional location within UHD. They will be given an individually tailored induction programme, where senior staff will support them to learn the skills required to care for our patients as a Band 6 Macular Nurse Specialist. Our senior team will guide and support them to work through required competencies until skills are mastered and confidence gained to work more independently.
