About the Role

We are working with a well-established organisation within the construction and operational sector to recruit an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join their growing team in Plymouth. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident safety professional who is passionate about driving a positive health & safety culture across live construction, refurbishment, and operational environments. Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, you will play a key role in promoting best practice, ensuring compliance, and supporting continuous improvement across all aspects of HSE performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert health & safety guidance across construction, refurbishment, and operational activities
  • Act as a visible safety leader, promoting a proactive and positive H&S culture on site
  • Strong focus on CDM Regulations 2015 compliance and best practice
  • Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Deliver and coordinate inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing H&S training
  • Support contractor management, including onboarding, audits, and performance monitoring
  • ISO 45001
  • Review and approve RAMS, safe systems of work, and permits
  • Carry out site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
  • Maintain and improve Health & Safety Management Systems
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on HSE performance and trends
  • Liaise with external bodies, including the HSE, during inspections and audits
About You
  • Working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015
  • NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) in Occupational Health & Safety (essential)
  • Proven experience in a Health & Safety role within construction, heavy industry, or processing environments
  • Strong understanding of ISO 45001 (and ISO 14001 desirable)
  • Experience conducting incident investigations using methods such as Root Cause Analysis or ICAM
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and H&S management systems
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (essential)
  • Environmental qualifications
