Buying Assistant

Our client is seeking a motivated and commercially aware Buying Assistant to join their Head Office team in Plymouth.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in retail buying within a fast-paced and collaborative environment. Supporting the Senior Buying team, you will play a key role in driving sales, maximising profitability, and ensuring product ranges are effectively managed and delivered to stores.

Key Responsibilities
Support the Senior Buying team to drive sales performance, maximise profit, and achieve stock and sales targets
Assist with sourcing, listing, and developing product ranges, including promotional activity
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, managing product files and range performance
Monitor competitor activity and market trends to support informed buying decisions
Research, compile, and analyse data to support strategy development
Ensure all administrative, financial, and system processes are completed accurately and within deadlines
Produce regular reports and provide ongoing support to stores
Work closely with retail teams to ensure smooth implementation of new product ranges

Skills and Experience
A clear interest in retail, with demonstrable knowledge of the sector
Strong commercial awareness and confident communication skills
Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Strong numerical and analytical capability
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, including working with formulas and graphs

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 08:45am to 17:30pm, temporary to permanent.
