Job Description & How to Apply Below

We're looking for a Security Coordinator to join our Devonport Royal Dockyard team based in Plymouth.

Location: Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard

Hours: 42.5 hours per week – some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Note: We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship for this role.

KierBAM is a Joint Venture partnership between Kier and BAM Nuttall, currently delivering a significant redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site in Plymouth. This role is vital for maintaining security across this high‑profile project.

Due to the sensitive nature of the site, a BPSS security clearance is essential. The process can take up to eight weeks. Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past five years.

What will you be responsible for?
  • Coordinating and quality‑assuring personnel security activities, ensuring complex vetting cases are complete, accurate, and compliant with UK Government and MOD requirements.
  • Managing security documentation and records to support compliance with MOD policies, contractual requirements, and organisational security management systems.
  • Coordinating supply chain security assurance activities, including pre‑qualification checks, compliance monitoring, and risk‑based supplier assessments.
  • Supporting information and cyber security compliance activities aligned to UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and MOD standards.
  • Coordinating physical security assurance activities, supporting site inspections, audits, and reviews to identify risks and track corrective actions.
What are we looking for?
  • Experience in vetting, compliance, and security‑related work with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical and review skills to process complex cases and assess supplier information.
  • Confidence using digital systems and tools, with the ability to manage multiple tasks whilst maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with suppliers, internal teams, and security advisors.
  • Proactive approach, identifying issues, escalating appropriately, and supporting improvements in processes and controls.
Rewards and Benefits

We offer a range of benefits tailored to individual needs, including flexible working arrangements and a comprehensive benefits package.

Diversity and Inclusion

Making Kier a diverse and inclusive place to work is a huge priority. As a Disability Confident employer, we will ensure that a fair and proportionate number of disabled applicants that meet the minimum criteria for this role will be offered an interview.

Due to the nature of this role and the work at this site, you will be required to complete a Government Security Check (SC) Clearance, conducted by the Cabinet Office's United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) agency. Applicants with convictions will be treated on a case‑by‑case basis. We do not discriminate based on an applicant's conviction history.
