About The ProgramSingle Homelessness Accommodation Programme (SHAP) – a specialist service comprising ten self‑contained one‑bedroom properties. This service provides dedicated, person‑centred support to single individuals and couples, including those with accessibility needs.
SHAP has been specifically designed to address critical gaps in homelessness provision, supporting:
- Individuals with long histories of rough sleeping or complex needs
- Young people aged 18–25 who are at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness
Our approach is rooted in trauma‑informed care and Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE), ensuring every individual is supported with dignity, compassion, and understanding.
AboutThe Role
As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals to move forward from homelessness and rebuild their lives. You will provide tailored, holistic support to help customers achieve independence, stability, and improved wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities- Provide dedicated support to individuals with complex needs or histories of rough sleeping, helping them recover from trauma and rebuild independence.
- Manage a caseload of customers, identifying appropriate housing solutions and delivering personalised support interventions.
- Develop and maintain support plans, risk assessments, and management plans using the INFORM system.
- Work collaboratively with local agencies and partners to deliver a coordinated, holistic support service.
- Support customers to maximise their income, including ensuring appropriate benefits are in place to sustain tenancies.
- Assist with social housing applications, referrals to supported accommodation, and access to external services.
- Advocate on behalf of customers and support them with paperwork, grant applications, and day‑to‑day needs.
- Refer customers requiring social care assessments to the appropriate Social Services teams.

Requirements- A working knowledge of the issues affecting people with complex needs and the potential impact on people’s physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing.
- Able to demonstrate that you put the Alliance First Principle and One Common Goal at the heart of all you do.
- Able to demonstrate you are an effective team worker (and able to work effectively on your own, if required).
- Able to make sound decisions.
- Requiring the ability to travel efficiently across the area.
