Support Workers – Children and Young People (Plymouth)

30 hours per week: £22,196 per annum, pro rata; 27.5 hours per week: £20,346 per annum, pro rata; based on a full‑time salary of £27,375 for 37 hours per week.

Shift Patterns
  • Weekday shifts: 9:00am to 5:00pm
  • Weekday late shifts: 1:00pm to 9:00pm
  • Weekend shifts: 11:00am to 9:00pm
Responsibilities
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Providing practical and emotional support
  • Building positive and professional relationships with young people
  • Supporting young people with routines, activities and personal development
  • Identifying and reporting safeguarding concerns appropriately
  • Maintaining accurate records, reports and support notes
  • Following support plans, risk assessments and organisational procedures
  • Working effectively with colleagues, families and external professionals
  • Providing consistent support as part of the four‑week rolling rota
Qualifications
  • Previous experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable individuals
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
  • A reliable, punctual and committed approach
  • Ability to manage challenging or sensitive situations calmly
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries
  • Flexibility to work early, late and weekend shifts
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
