Assistant or Associate Professor, Nuclear Engineering (2684) – Pocatello, Main campus. Open until filled.
Idaho State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Nuclear Engineering Department. The department offers Nuclear Engineering degrees at the bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. levels. Courses are available on the Pocatello and Idaho Falls campuses and online via the University LMS. Some courses are offered in the early evening to accommodate Idaho National Laboratory employees.
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship at this time.
The Nuclear Engineering Department seeks candidates with capabilities and experience in various Nuclear Engineering fields. Candidates with nuclear-oriented digital twin, machine learning, or artificial intelligence experience are especially sought.
Key Responsibilities- Teach courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
- Develop externally funded research.
- Contribute to the operation and promotion of the Department, the University, and the profession.
- Engage with the Idaho National Laboratory and other laboratories to advance department goals.
- Participate in on-campus education and research using facilities such as the ISU AGN-201 nuclear reactor and the subcritical facility.
- Ph.D. in nuclear engineering or a related field.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in nuclear engineering is preferred.
- Postdoctoral experience and potential joint appointments with federal or state entities will be positively considered.
