Idaho State University’s Department of Mechanical and Measurement & Control Engineering (MMCE) invites applications to join our dynamic and growing team. The position is for a 9‑month, non‑tenure‑track lecturer with rank starting August 2026.
As a lecturer with rank in MMCE, the expectations for the successful applicant are to teach a broad array of courses at the undergraduate level, develop innovative instructional techniques, and contribute to curriculum development. Consideration will be given to candidates who have a proven track record or clear potential for excellence in teaching across the mechanical engineering curriculum.
Further, the successful candidate is expected to mentor undergraduate student projects, and perform professional service. The candidate will also provide academic advising and career mentoring to undergraduate students, support continuous improvement efforts for curriculum and instruction (e.g., ABET assessment), participate in department meetings, and service activities such as student recruitment, and outreach. This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time.
Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.
- Teaching a broad set of undergraduate courses across the Mechanical Engineering curriculum. Courses may be offered via distance learning to the Idaho Falls and Twin Falls campuses.
- Passion for undergraduate mechanical engineering education.
- Undergraduate student recruitment and academic advising.
- Mentoring undergraduate student projects and clubs.
- Perform professional and university (department, college, and university) service.
- Mentor capstone projects.
- An earned undergraduate B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
- An earned M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Industry experience as a practicing mechanical engineer.
- An earned PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching of undergraduate courses in mechanical engineering.
- Involvement with student groups and organizations.
- Evidence of course or program assessment (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, ABET).

Salary will be between $65,000 - $70,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include comprehensive health, dental, and vision; life insurance; disability plan;
