Job Description

To analyze, research, forecast, and reconcile complex financial documents; ensure compliance with laws, rules, and policies; perform related work.

The Idaho State University Foundation is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Financial Technician to join our finance team. Working under the direction of the Foundation’s Accounting Manager, the Financial Technician performs a variety of accounting and administrative functions that support the Foundation’s financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounts payable and receivable transactions, performing reconciliations, preparing financial reports, and ensuring transactions are properly documented, coded, and approved.

This position plays an important role in supporting the Foundation’s financial integrity, compliance, and day-to-day operations.

This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date financial records.
  • Process invoices and ensure timely and accurate payments.
  • Process accounts receivable and ensure accurate coding.
  • Receive and track payments electronically.
  • Reconcile bank statements and manage general ledger accounts.
  • Perform routine account reconciliation and prepare related reports.
  • Prepare financial reports, summaries, and other financial information as requested.
  • Review transaction documentation to ensure appropriate coding, required approvals, and adequate supporting documentation.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Review and analyze financial data to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Research financial transactions, account activity, and statements as needed.
  • Scan, organize, and electronically file financial documents.
  • Manage and organize accounts payable and accounts receivable communications.
  • Respond to routine inquiries and direct questions to the appropriate staff member when necessary.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Provide information and assistance to Advancement staff, vendors, donors, and the public.
  • Work collaboratively with Foundation staff to resolve financial and transaction related questions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Some knowledge of financial record keeping.
  • Researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports.
  • Using personal computers to enter, retrieve, and edit financial data.
Specialty Requirement

These positions at ISU require experience using MS Excel.

Additional Information

ISU minimum for this classification is $17.25/hour, commensurate with education and experience.
