Mortgage Field Services Inspector

Welcome to the Mortgage Field Services Inspector position at FAR Inspections.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn a predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required; strong time‑management skills and the ability to meet deadlines are essential.

FAR Inspections has been based in Reno, NV for over nine years and works with lenders to provide regular updates on their properties.

Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose of the inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.

• Most inspections take 5–6 minutes.
• Complete the inspection within four days of assignment.
• Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take nine or more photos with brief comments.
• Fill out a short form in the app.
• Drive extended periods, making multiple stops during the day within the assigned territory.

• Computer with internet access.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you pay for your own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Although paid per inspection, you may earn an equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour.

In a county, you can complete 20–500 inspections per month working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates; higher‑volume counties have lower rates. There is no set monthly requirement, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month. You can earn more as you become established, increase availability, or cover larger territories.

No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
