Assistant Financial Accountant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and proactive Assistant Financial Accountant to join their finance department in Polokwane. This role provides crucial support to the Financial Accountant and the wider finance team, assisting in the accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions. You will gain valuable experience in various accounting functions, including ledger management, reconciliations, and assisting with financial statement preparation.

• Assist in the preparation and posting of journal entries to the general ledger.
• Perform detailed reconciliations of bank statements and balance sheet accounts.
• Process and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Support the month-end and year-end closing processes under supervision.
• Assist in preparing financial reports and analyses for management review.
• Ensure accurate and organized maintenance of financial records and supporting documentation.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2-3 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping capacity.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices (GAAP/IFRS).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., Pastel, SAP Business One).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
• Effective organizational and time-management skills.
