Special Needs Educator Assistant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Educator Assistant to support students with diverse learning requirements in Polokwane. Working closely with lead teachers and therapists, you will provide individualized assistance to students, helping them to access the curriculum and participate fully in school activities. This role requires patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every child can thrive.

You will be instrumental in helping students overcome challenges and achieve their educational goals.

• Provide one-on-one support to students with special educational needs during classroom activities and learning tasks.
• Assist students with personal care routines, mobility, and adaptive equipment as needed.
• Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies under the guidance of the teacher.
• Facilitate social interaction and peer relationships among students.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to monitor student progress and adjust support strategies.
• Prepare learning materials and adapt resources to meet the specific needs of students.

• Relevant qualification or certification in Special Needs Education or a related field.
• Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of various disabilities and learning differences.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, patience, and a nurturing disposition.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication.
