Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Process Safety Engineer to enhance safety protocols and manage risks within their Oil & Gas facilities, with a focus on operations supporting Polokwane. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safe design, operation, and maintenance of processes to prevent catastrophic accidents. You will be responsible for implementing and managing process safety management (PSM) programs, including hazard identification, risk analysis, and safety systems.

This position requires a detail-oriented engineer committed to maintaining the highest safety standards in a high-risk industry.

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Develop and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) elements.
• Ensure compliance with relevant process safety regulations and industry standards.
• Review engineering designs and modifications for safety implications.
• Develop and manage safety procedures, including Management of Change (MOC).
• Monitor key performance indicators for process safety and report on findings.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety engineering within the Oil & Gas or chemical processing industries.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM principles, standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, EPA RMP), and best practices.
• Experience with hazard identification and risk assessment techniques.
• Strong understanding of process safety systems and safeguards.
