About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive Chemical Plant Engineer to support operations at their facility in Polokwane . This role is focused on maintaining and improving the efficiency, safety, and reliability of plant equipment and processes. You will work closely with operations and maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues, implement modifications, and ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulations. This is a hands‑on position for an engineer eager to contribute directly to the smooth running of a vital chemical production environment.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the operation and maintenance of chemical plant equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and process issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective repair solutions.
- Implement process improvements and equipment upgrades to enhance efficiency, safety, and product quality.
- Ensure all plant activities comply with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Develop and maintain P&IDs, equipment specifications, and operational manuals.
- Participate in HAZOP studies and other risk assessment activities for plant modifications.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a chemical focus.
- 3-5 years of experience in a chemical plant or industrial engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of process equipment, piping, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Familiarity with safety procedures, environmental regulations, and maintenance best practices.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Willingness to be hands‑on and work closely with operational and maintenance personnel.
