About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and innovative Senior Research Engineer specializing in Materials Science to join their team in Polokwane . This role is central to developing and testing advanced materials for various applications, driving forward the company's product innovation pipeline. You will work collaboratively with a team of scientists and engineers, from conceptualization through to prototyping and scale-up. The ideal candidate possesses strong practical engineering skills, a deep understanding of material properties and characterization, and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of material performance within a dynamic research and development environment in Limpopo .
Key Responsibilities- Design, synthesize, and characterize novel materials with specific desired properties.
- Conduct rigorous testing and evaluation of materials performance under various conditions.
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for new materials, ensuring scalability and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new materials into product designs.
- Troubleshoot material-related issues during development and production phases.
- Maintain detailed experimental records and prepare technical reports and presentations.
- Master's or PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials research and development, with a focus on specific material classes (e.g., polymers, composites, ceramics).
- Proficiency in materials characterization techniques (e.g., microscopy, spectroscopy, mechanical testing).
- Experience with materials processing and manufacturing techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
