About the Role
Our client requires a seasoned Lead Process Safety Engineer to ensure the highest standards of safety are maintained across their operations in Polokwane . This leadership role is critical for identifying, assessing, and mitigating process-related hazards within the Oil & Gas facilities. You will champion a robust process safety management (PSM) system, working closely with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to prevent major accidents.
Your expertise will be vital in fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring regulatory compliance in the Limpopo province.
- Lead and conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
- Develop and implement comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
- Oversee the mechanical integrity of safety-critical equipment and systems.
- Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, ensuring thorough root cause analysis.
- Develop and maintain safety procedures, standards, and guidelines.
- Provide expert advice and training on process safety principles and practices.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international process safety regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in process safety engineering, with a significant portion in the Oil & Gas industry .
- In-depth knowledge of PHA methodologies, LOPA, and SIL assessments.
- Proven experience implementing and managing PSM systems.
- Strong understanding of hazardous materials handling, relief systems, and emergency response planning.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working in the Polokwane region or similar industrial environments is preferred.
