About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled Irrigation Systems Engineer to design, implement, and manage efficient water management solutions for their agricultural operations in the Polokwane area. This role is essential for optimizing water usage, ensuring crop health, and promoting water conservation within the agricultural sector. You will work with advanced irrigation technologies, manage installation projects, and provide technical expertise to farm managers and field teams.
This is a key position for an engineer passionate about sustainable water management and agricultural productivity in Limpopo.
- Design and engineer efficient irrigation systems (drip, sprinkler, center pivot) tailored to specific crop and soil conditions.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of irrigation infrastructure.
- Conduct regular assessments of existing irrigation systems to identify areas for improvement and water savings.
- Develop water management plans and schedules in coordination with crop production needs and water availability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to irrigation equipment and water distribution.
- Stay current with advancements in irrigation technology, water conservation techniques, and relevant regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering (with water focus), or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and management of agricultural irrigation systems .
- Proficiency with irrigation design software and hydraulic calculations.
- Strong understanding of water resources, soil-water-plant relationships, and irrigation scheduling.
- Experience with pump systems, filtration, and automated irrigation controls.
- Excellent project management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively on-site.
