Mine Planning Engineer

Our client is seeking a skilled and innovative Mine Planning Engineer to join their operations near Polokwane . This role is central to optimizing the extraction of mineral resources by developing short-term and long-term mine plans that balance production targets, operational costs, safety, and environmental considerations. You will work closely with geology, survey, and operations teams to ensure efficient and effective mine development and extraction strategies in the Limpopo province.

• Develop and maintain short-term (daily, weekly) and long-term (annual, life-of-mine) mine plans.
• Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, XACT) to generate schedules, designs, and production forecasts.
• Conduct geological data interpretation and integrate it into mine plans.
• Optimize mine layouts, access routes, and extraction sequences for efficiency and safety.
• Perform economic evaluations of different mine planning scenarios.
• Collaborate with operations to ensure plans are executable and provide feedback for plan adjustments.
• Ensure mine plans comply with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.

• Degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning, with practical exposure to both open pit and underground operations if applicable.
• Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning software packages.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, geotechnical principles, and resource estimation.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
