Our client is seeking a knowledgeable Energy Storage Systems Specialist to join their innovative team in Polokwane . This role focuses on the design, integration, and optimization of battery energy storage systems (BESS) for various applications, including grid-scale, commercial, and industrial use. You will play a key role in developing solutions that enhance grid stability, integrate renewable energy sources, and provide reliable power backup.
The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in battery technology and power systems, with a passion for advancing energy storage solutions.
- Design and engineer battery energy storage systems (BESS), including component selection, system architecture, and integration strategies.
- Develop control strategies and algorithms for BESS to optimize performance for various applications (e.g., peak shaving, frequency regulation, renewable energy integration).
- Conduct technical feasibility studies and site assessments for proposed BESS installations.
- Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, and software developers to ensure seamless system integration.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to BESS hardware, software, and control systems.
- Stay current with advancements in battery technology, power electronics, and energy storage market trends.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the design, deployment, or operation of energy storage systems .
- Strong understanding of battery chemistries, power conversion systems (PCS), and battery management systems (BMS).
- Familiarity with grid interconnection requirements and energy market operations.
- Proficiency in simulation tools and experience with control system development is advantageous.
