Senior Aviation Communications Systems Engineer

Our client, a leader in aerospace technology development, is seeking a Senior Aviation Communications Systems Engineer to join their dedicated team in Polokwane, Limpopo . This role will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and testing of advanced communication systems for next-generation aircraft. You will play a crucial role in ensuring seamless and secure data transmission, voice communication, and navigation support for aviation operations.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in radio frequency (RF) engineering, digital communications, and a thorough understanding of aviation communication protocols and standards. This position requires full-time presence at our Polokwane facility, offering a collaborative environment where you can make significant contributions to cutting-edge aviation projects.

• Design and develop robust aviation communication systems, including radio, satellite, and data link technologies.
• Define system requirements, specifications, and interface control documents (ICDs).
• Perform analysis of RF performance, signal integrity, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
• Oversee the integration of communication systems with other aircraft avionics and platforms.
• Develop and execute test plans and procedures for communication system verification and validation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to communication system hardware and software.
• Ensure compliance with aviation communication standards (e.g., ARINC, ICAO).
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, including software, hardware, and systems engineers.
• Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in aviation communication systems.
• Support system certification and qualification activities.

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in aviation communications systems engineering.
• Proven experience in the design and development of RF systems, digital signal processing, and communication protocols.
• Strong understanding of aviation communication standards such as SATCOM, ACARS, VHF/UHF, and navigation aids.
• Proficiency with RF design tools, network analyzers, and communication test equipment.
• Experience with system integration, verification, and validation processes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Familiarity with aviation certification processes is highly desirable.
• Must be willing to work full-time on-site in Polokwane, Limpopo .
