Industrial Engineering Specialist, Ergonomics and Safety

Our client, a prominent player in the agricultural equipment manufacturing sector, is seeking an experienced Industrial Engineering Specialist with a focus on Ergonomics and Safety for their facility in Polokwane, Limpopo . This role is critical for ensuring a safe, efficient, and healthy work environment by applying ergonomic principles and industrial safety standards to all processes and work spaces. You will work closely with manufacturing and HR teams to identify and mitigate workplace hazards, optimize workstation designs, and promote a strong safety culture. • Conduct ergonomic assessments of workstations, tools, and tasks to identify and mitigate risks of musculoskeletal disorders.
• Develop and implement ergonomic intervention strategies, including workstation redesign and process modifications.
• Analyze workplace safety data to identify trends and high-risk areas.
• Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and procedures in line with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct safety training sessions for employees and management.
• Investigate workplace incidents and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure safety and ergonomic considerations are integrated into new process and facility designs.
• Maintain safety and ergonomic records and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.

• Stay updated on the latest research and best practices in ergonomics and industrial safety.

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
• A Master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., Certified Professional Ergonomist) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial engineering with a specialized focus on ergonomics and workplace safety.
• Proven experience conducting ergonomic risk assessments and implementing effective interventions.
• In-depth knowledge of occupational safety regulations and best practices.
• Familiarity with human factors engineering principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and training skills.
