Chemical Engineer - Water Treatment & Environmental Systems

Our client, a leading provider of industrial water treatment solutions, is seeking an enthusiastic Chemical Engineer to join their team in Polokwane, Limpopo
. This role focuses on the design, implementation, and optimization of water and wastewater treatment processes for industrial clients. You will be responsible for ensuring efficient and compliant operation of treatment systems, troubleshooting operational issues, and contributing to the development of innovative environmental solutions. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in water chemistry, chemical process design, and a passion for environmental sustainability.

This is an on-site position requiring regular client interaction and site visits within the Polokwane, Limpopo region.

• Design and engineer chemical treatment processes for industrial water and wastewater applications.
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and operation of water treatment plants and equipment.
• Monitor system performance, conduct water quality analyses, and implement adjustments to optimize treatment efficiency.
• Troubleshoot operational problems and identify root causes to ensure system reliability and compliance.
• Develop process documentation, including P&IDs, operating manuals, and performance reports.
• Ensure adherence to all environmental regulations and permit requirements.
• Provide technical support and training to plant operators and clients.
• Conduct site assessments and recommend appropriate treatment solutions tailored to client needs.
• Stay updated on advancements in water treatment technologies and environmental engineering best practices.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• 2-4 years of experience in water treatment, wastewater management, or related environmental engineering fields.
• Solid understanding of water chemistry, physical/chemical treatment processes (e.g., coagulation, flocculation, ion exchange, membrane filtration).
• Experience with process simulation and design software is an advantage.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations pertaining to water quality.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and field teams.
• Willingness to travel within the Polokwane, Limpopo region and perform on-site work.
• Project management experience is a plus.
