Civil Design Technician

Our client, a growing engineering consultancy in Polokwane , is seeking a skilled Civil Design Technician to support their project teams. This role involves assisting Civil Engineers in the preparation of detailed designs, drawings, and documentation for a range of infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be proficient in CAD software and possess a keen eye for detail, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design standards.

You will play a vital role in translating engineering concepts into tangible plans, contributing to projects such as roads, drainage systems, and site development. • Prepare detailed civil engineering drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
• Assist in the development of design concepts and calculations under the supervision of engineers.
• Create site plans, grading plans, road designs, and drainage layouts.
• Ensure all drawings comply with relevant national and local standards and codes.
• Maintain drawing registers and manage design documentation.
• Assist with the preparation of technical reports and specifications.
• Coordinate with engineers and other team members to resolve design issues.
• Perform quantity take-offs and assist with cost estimation.
• Conduct site visits as required to gather information and verify design elements.
• Support the engineering team throughout the project lifecycle.

• National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering Technology or Draughting.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Civil Design Technician or Draughtsperson.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D is essential.
• Familiarity with South African civil engineering standards and practices.
• Strong understanding of drafting conventions and geometric principles.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawings.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Experience with BIM software is a plus.
