Project Engineer - Transmission & Distribution

** Polokwane**. This role will involve managing and executing various projects related to power line construction, substation upgrades, and network expansion within the

* * province. You will be responsible for technical design, planning, procurement, and overseeing construction activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of electrical engineering principles, project management skills, and experience in the T&D sector. This is a crucial role contributing to the reliability and expansion of the electrical grid in a vital economic region.

• Manage and execute projects related to the design, construction, and maintenance of electrical transmission and distribution systems.
• Develop project plans, scopes of work, budgets, and schedules.
• Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure project milestones are met.
• Oversee the technical aspects of project execution, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and specifications.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
• Manage procurement processes for materials, equipment, and services.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring safety and environmental compliance.
• Prepare project documentation, including progress reports, technical specifications, and as-built drawings.
• Liaise with utility providers, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot technical issues that arise during project implementation.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in project engineering, specifically within the transmission and distribution sector.
• Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, including substations and overhead lines.
• Experience with project management methodologies and tools (e.g., MS Project).
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and codes (e.g., SANS, IEC).
• Excellent technical, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Proficiency in CAD software is a plus.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration is an advantage.
