About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly motivated and analytical Energy Trader to join their trading desk in Polokwane . This dynamic role involves executing trades in various energy markets, managing risk exposure, and optimizing profitability. You will analyze market data, identify trading opportunities, and implement trading strategies to maximize returns while adhering to strict risk management protocols. The hybrid work model allows for strategic trading execution with essential in-office collaboration and market analysis.
Key Responsibilities- Execute trades in wholesale energy markets (electricity, natural gas, etc.) based on market analysis and approved strategies.
- Monitor market conditions, news, and events that may impact energy prices.
- Develop and implement trading strategies to achieve profitable outcomes within defined risk parameters.
- Manage and mitigate trading risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Analyze trading performance and provide reports on market positions and profitability.
- Collaborate with risk management, operations, and analytical teams to ensure integrated decision-making.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in energy trading or a closely related financial market role.
- Strong understanding of energy markets, including supply/demand dynamics, pricing mechanisms, and regulatory frameworks.
- Proven ability to analyze market data, identify trends, and make rapid, informed trading decisions.
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, with a strong aptitude for risk management.
- Proficiency in trading platforms and financial modeling tools.
