Cybersecurity Analyst - SOC

About the Role

Our client is seeking a vigilant Cybersecurity Analyst to join their Security Operations Center (SOC) in Polokwane. This critical role involves monitoring, detecting, and responding to security threats and incidents to protect the organization's digital assets. You will work with state-of-the-art security tools and technologies to maintain a strong security posture. • Monitor security alerts and events from various sources (SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls) to detect potential threats.
• Investigate security incidents, perform forensic analysis, and provide timely and effective response actions.
• Develop and maintain security monitoring procedures and incident response playbooks.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate security weaknesses.
• Stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities and best practices.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience in cybersecurity, particularly in a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment.
• Proficiency with SIEM tools, network security monitoring and endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions.
• Understanding of common attack vectors, malware analysis, and incident response methodologies.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or GSEC are a plus.
