Overview

PG Building Glass is Southern Africa’s leading distributor of float, mirror and PG Smart Glass® products. Solutions supplied include glass that keeps out intruders, sound, heat, ultraviolet light and cold as well as glass that comes in a wide range of decorative finishes, colours, patterns, and images.

• Operating the Cutting table, ensuring that production and quality targets are met.
• Read and measure incoming glass accurately with a tape measure.
• Handling and inspecting all incoming glass for irregular breaks, scratches and uneven edges.
• Review process instructions as per job card and drawings.
• Perform minor routine maintenance on machines.
• Read and fill out proper documentation (hard copies and electronically).
• Observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices or conditions.
• Perform continuous checks on the quality of glass and notify the operator if there is any manufacturing defect.
• Work effectively with the operator to ensure that you receive the correct job cards and glasses are properly labelled.
• Work according to standard operating procedure (SOP).
• Scan and confirm every good glass before sending to the next station, and scrap rejected glass in order to make replacement.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized area at all times.
• Maintain daily production records such as quantity, dimensions, square meters, cubic meters and material type by means of a standardised production sheet.
• Properly handle all chemicals within safety guidelines.
• Properly label and pack glasses on the racks/trolleys.
• Ensure that every glass moving to the next station is properly labelled and accompanied by the right job card and drawings.
• Load, strap, offload and move glass within the plant by means of a pallet jack.
• Load and offload materials onto or from pallets, racks and shelves by hand.
• Cleaning work area, machines and equipment.
• Sign off job card after completing the job.
• Help out with other production/operations duties depending on glass production requirements.
