Responsibilities
- Administrative Functions – administer resident assessments, coordinate care plans per regulations, schedule Medicare/Medicaid, direct nursing assistants, ensure compliance with policies, report incidents, and maintain updated schedules.
- Charting & Documentation – prepare resident charge slips, maintain daily census, record physician orders, complete incident reports, and sign all entries in medical records.
- Drug Administration – prepare and administer medications, verify resident identity, manage floor stock, monitor narcotics, dispose drugs per protocol, and notify supervising nurse of discrepancies.
- Personnel Management – conduct staff evaluations, determine staffing needs, supervise nursing assistants, perform rounds, address discipline, and facilitate training.
- Clinical Care – perform nursing treatments (e.g., catheterization, wound care, therapeutic services), administer restraints as needed, monitor vital signs, and communicate changes to attending physicians.
- Staff Development – plan and conduct in‑service training, maintain orientation programs, and assist in continuing education and licensure requirements.
- Safety & Infection Control – ensure PPE use, maintain sanitation, report hazards, participate in safety drills, and manage drug disposal procedures.
- Equipment & Supply Management – monitor medication and equipment inventories, recommend necessary supplies, and ensure safe use of all unit equipment.
- Care Plan & Assessment – review and update care plans, ensure adherence to patient goals, and coordinate with the assessment coordinator.
- Budget & Planning – report suspected fraud and assist in financial reporting for the nursing service.
- Miscellaneous – contribute to quality assurance committees and coordinate with other departments to support resident care.
- LPN/LVN licensed in the state, current and unencumbered.
- Bachelor’s or associate degree from an accredited institution or approved LPN/LVN program.
- Proficient in English – read, write, speak, and comprehend technical procedures.
- Current CPR certification; PCC preferred; ongoing continuing education mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of nursing practice, regulations, infection control, and state laws governing nursing facilities.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts, reasoning skills, and make independent decisions as required.
- Demonstrated supervisory and team‑building capabilities, with leadership experience.
- Physical capacity to lift up to 25 pounds, move 50 feet, and perform bedside care tasks.
- Must maintain good standing with the State Board of Nursing and pose no health or safety threat to others.
