About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist with expertise in Neuroscience to join their dedicated research team in Polokwane . This role focuses on exploring novel therapeutic targets for neurological disorders. You will be responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing experiments that advance our understanding of brain function and dysfunction. The ideal candidate possesses strong experimental skills, a deep understanding of neurobiological principles, and a passion for driving scientific innovation within a non-remote laboratory setting.
Collaboration and meticulous data handling are key to success in this position.
- Design and conduct in vitro and in vivo studies to investigate neurological disease mechanisms.
- Utilize advanced techniques such as electrophysiology, calcium imaging, and behavioral analyses.
- Analyze complex neurobiological data, employing appropriate statistical methods.
- Collaborate with chemists and pharmacologists to identify and validate potential drug candidates.
- Prepare detailed reports, manuscripts for publication, and present findings to internal teams and scientific audiences.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and execution of neuroscience research programs.
- Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biology, or a related field with a strong track record in neuroscience research.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant post-doctoral or industry experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in key neuroscience techniques (e.g., molecular biology, cell signaling, animal models).
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation specific to neuroscience studies.
- Experience with common laboratory equipment and safety protocols.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
