About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Research Fellow to drive key initiatives in Pharmacology at their research center in Polokwane . This position is integral to the discovery and development of novel therapeutic agents. You will lead experimental design, conduct sophisticated assays, and interpret complex data to advance preclinical drug development programs. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in pharmacology, a deep understanding of drug mechanisms, and strong leadership capabilities to guide research efforts and mentor junior scientists within a stimulating, hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Design and execute in vitro and in vivo studies to evaluate the efficacy and safety of potential drug candidates.
- Investigate drug mechanisms of action, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics.
- Analyze and interpret complex pharmacological data, generating clear and concise reports for project teams and management.
- Lead and mentor junior research staff, providing technical guidance and fostering scientific rigor.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including medicinal chemistry and toxicology, to ensure seamless project progression.
- Contribute to the development of research strategies and identify new therapeutic opportunities.
- Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Toxicology, or a related biomedical science field.
- Minimum of 7 years of post-doctoral research experience in pharmacology or a related drug discovery discipline.
- Proven expertise in a wide range of pharmacological assays and models, including receptor binding, enzyme inhibition, and disease models.
- Demonstrated experience in leading research projects and mentoring junior scientists.
- Strong understanding of drug development processes and regulatory considerations.
- Ability to effectively contribute in a hybrid work model , managing onsite laboratory work and remote data analysis/reporting.
