Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Computational Biologist to join their innovative research team in Polokwane . This role is central to analyzing large-scale biological datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics data, to uncover novel biological insights and drive discovery. - Collaborate with experimental scientists to design experiments that generate high-quality, analyzable data.
- Interpret complex computational results in a biological context and communicate findings effectively to diverse audiences.
- Contribute to the development of predictive models and algorithms for disease diagnosis and progression.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in bioinformatics, computational biology, and relevant biological fields.
- Ph.D. in Computational Biology , Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field with a strong biological focus.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in computational biology or bioinformatics research.
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics (e.g., Python, R, Perl) and experience with relevant libraries and tools.
- Solid understanding of statistical methods, machine learning, and data mining techniques applied to biological data.
- Experience analyzing large biological datasets such as next-generation sequencing (NGS) data.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team in Polokwane .
