In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location.

Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Expected Pay Scale

Minimum: $17.00 Hourly

Maximum $17.50 Hourly

Job Summary

The Center for Academic Community Engagement is seeking Resident Peer Advisors (RPAs) to join the Western U Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP). RPAs play a vital role in fostering a positive and inclusive community for SHPEP students by providing mentorship, organizing social events, and supporting the overall program culture. RPAs serve as role models and trusted points of contact for students, creating a welcoming, supportive environment that encourages student success and well-being.

RPAs are also involved in planning and executing key program events, such as the closing ceremony, and may assist with afternoon curriculum or classroom facilitation as needed.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with students, faculty, and staff and build meaningful relationships.
  • Proven leadership abilities and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and collaborative environment.
  • Organizational skills to assist with the planning and execution of social events and activities that contribute to a positive program culture.
  • Flexibility and a team-oriented mindset to support students’ academic and personal development in various capacities.
  • Comfortable using technology tools like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google Docs, Canva, and other relevant programs.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.

  • Must be a Western

    U SHPEP Alumni

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education:

    Any combination of training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Experience:

    1-2 years’ experience in a related field. Previous experience in and academic and/or health care setting is preferred.
