Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Dean of College of Health Sciences, the Assistant Dean of Assessment and Evaluation plays a crucial role in ensuring the effectiveness and continuous improvement of academic programs. They develop and implement assessment strategies, analyze data, and provide recommendations to improve student learning and program outcomes, often in alignment with accreditation standards and institutional goals according to job descriptions and from college websites.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Designing and implementing assessment strategies aligned with program objectives and student learning outcomes.
- Analyzing data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
Skill:
- Strong leadership skills to build and guide teams, and a collaborative approach to work with stakeholders
- Communicating complex data findings to diverse audiences and collaborating with faculty, staff, and administrators.
Ability to:
- Demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (higher education, assessment, research, etc) or higher.
- 5+ years of experience in being responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data from various assessment activities, such as student performance data or surveys.
- Experience in education, medical education, or a specific academic discipline.
- Thorough understanding of higher education assessment methodologies, accreditation standards, and data analysis techniques.
- Familiarity with assessment software (like Exam Soft), statistical software (SPSS, SAS), and student information systems.
- Experience with institutional effectiveness, institutional research, and data-driven decision-making.

Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement strategic plans for assessment and evaluation, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and accreditation standards.
Curriculum and Program Development:
- Assist in developing measurable learning outcomes, lead curricular mapping efforts, and provide statistical support for assessment and evaluation data.
Key Responsibilities
Data Management and Reporting:
- Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of assessment data to stakeholders, including faculty, administration, and accrediting bodies.
