Position: Senior Engineer 1 for Vehicle Design and Delivery

Become a Senior Engineer 1 for Vehicle Design and Delivery at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be leading teams to develop vehicle specifications, work with procurement to establish contracts, manage vendors during vehicle builds, and deliver vehicles into the fleet of 6000. You’ll also provide oversight and guidance to a team of junior engineers.

You’ll also be the lead subject matter expert for vehicle investigations and field vehicle issues. As a Senior Engineer 1 for Vehicle Design and Delivery, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. Responsibilities
  • Oversees engineers performing diagnostics, monitoring and inspecting equipment, and reviewing grid technologies, building relationships to facilitate cross-functional knowledge transfer of related work groups
  • Leads the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and other documentation to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Collaborate and lead with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless development, integration and implementation of future technologies and asset performance management strategies
  • Assists in a variety of engineering and business initiatives and grid strategies, including development of innovative procedures and design recommendations
  • Provides support for new equipment installation and startup, then leads the hand over processes to the ramp and sustaining phases
  • Leads junior engineers in investigation of threats on the distribution system infrastructure based on observations and findings
  • Gathers and correlates basic data using engineering studies and procedures, which may include routine and diagnostic testing of components and systems
  • Facilitates training and professional development opportunities for engineering team members to enhance their skills and knowledge
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field.
  • Seven or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • California P.E. License
  • Experience in designing utility fleet vehicles
  • Knowledge of California Vehicle Codes and ANSI standards relative to derricks and aerials
Additional Information
  • This position’s work mode is
    hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and resident in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
