Senior Engineer V

Type: Contractor – Hybrid

Location: Pomona, CA 91767

Duration: 1 Year

• Perform structural and line design analysis using PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and PLS-Caisson.
• Serve as a subject‑matter expert for modeling and analysis across transmission and distribution systems.
• Review and design pole foundations for new and existing installations.
• Maintain and update engineering design specifications, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards.

• Support development of new engineering projects based on data collection, research, and analysis.
• Present new ideas to improve engineering processes and business efficiency.
• Analyze data for strategic decision‑making in new and ongoing engineering initiatives.

• Support construction teams by resolving design‑related issues.
• Conduct field inspections as needed.
• Assist with emergency restoration efforts related to wildfires, storms, or other system incidents.

• Oversee QA/QC engineering processes to ensure quality, safety, and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with:
  • California GO95
  • NESC
  • ASCE codes and engineering standards

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to SCE's transmission engineering practice.
• Mentor less experienced engineers in design methods, tools, and best practices.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• California Civil PE License (required).
• 7+ years of technical experience in transmission and/or distribution line engineering.
• Strong experience with California utility engineering standards including GO95, NESC, and ASCE.
• Proficiency with:
  • PLS-CADD
  • PLS-Pole
  • AutoCAD

• Experience with:
  • PLS-Caisson
  • SPIDAcalc
• Experience supporting utility emergency response (storms, wildfire restoration).
• Experience collaborating with cross‑functional utility teams.
