Lead Civil Engineer

We have an immediate opportunity for a Lead Civil Engineer for the Los Angeles area. This ideal candidate will provide technical leadership across all project phases, including project scope, design, cost controls, scheduling, as well as construction support. We are looking for a detailed, well organized, collaborative, and self‑motivated individual with strong interpersonal and leadership skills who is adaptable to shifting priorities.

This is an in‑office, two days a week hybrid position with approximately 25% travel within Southern California.

• Lead the engineering team across all project phases
• Work closely with internal teams, including project managers, environmental, real estate, and construction teams
• Conduct job walks and provide engineering construction support across diverse geographical areas for Transmissions, Substation and Distribution facilities; may be in the field 1–2 days a week depending on needs
• Oversee contractors, manage consultants, define scopes, review proposals to ensure quality while maintaining project schedule
• Secure necessary permits and approvals from local jurisdiction and agencies
• Manage project schedules, provide technical leadership for civil engineering scope, manage budget, and maintain clear communication with all stakeholders
• Promote a safety‑first culture both in office and on‑site
• Ensure quality assurance for consultant deliverables, conduct peer reviews, manage purchase orders and invoice approval

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required;
  Master’s degree in civil engineering desired
• 8 years of experience in land development for Substation facilities and Transmission access in varied terrain desired
• Road and highway design experience desired
• Experience with ArcGIS desired
• Storm damage response and mitigation desired
• Experience in contractor management and purchase order oversight
• Knowledge of California permitting processes
