Job Summary

The Academic Technology Specialist reports to the Senior Technology Project Manager. These individuals support curriculum delivery and have the primary purpose of enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the electronic platforms and technology used by the college.

  • Based on requirement analysis, the IT specialist must have the ability to assess and evaluate off‑the‑shelf software and provide educated recommendations for potential implementation.
Technical Skills
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in the Microsoft 365 suite of products, including but not limited to Power BI, Power Apps, SharePoint, Visio, and Power Automate.
  • Advanced knowledge of relational DB and SQL queries.
  • Advanced knowledge and skill in scripting/programming language preferably python and/or PHP.
  • Comprehensive knowledge on web related technologies:
    • HTML and CSS
    • XML and JSON
    • JAVASCRIPT
  • Working knowledge of OOP, data structures, algorithms, and computer science fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms development.
  • Familiarity with SDLC methodologies including Waterfall, Agile and Iterative.
Required Qualifications
  • Education:

    BS in Information Technology or Computer Science (or equivalent).
  • Experience:

    Preferred minimum two to three years of software development experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiar with API access/development.
  • Experience in developing software solutions under Agile.
  • Microsoft Power App, Power

    BI and Power Automate.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to faculty, staff, and students with usage of curricular software, including but not limited to eValue, T‑Res, Elentra and Exam Soft, MS Office Suite, including Teams and Zoom.
  • Carry software solutions through the software development life cycle (SDLC). This includes working independently or as a team member on feasibility study, requirements gathering and analyzing, designing/prototyping, developing/building (write clean, concise, and efficient code), testing, implementing, and continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with college administration, faculty, staff, IT, and other University departments to assist in planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing college IT solutions.
  • Define and design software training procedures and programs.
  • Maintain and support good operation as well as recommend continuous improvement of college database, software, and platforms.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:

Monday‑Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some weekends.
