Job Overview
Histotechnologist II – Pompano Beach, FL – Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
The position is intended for individuals with prior experience working as a histotechnologist and possessing ASCP certification in Histotechnology. The individual will perform routine histopathology functions, handle more complex tasks, work under limited supervision, provide guidance to technical staff, and may lead some projects.
CompensationPay range: $35 to $47 per hour!
Sign‑on bonus for external candidates

- Prepare slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologists, following policies and procedures.
- Perform all routine and non‑routine activities of a level I histotechnologist.
- May perform gross tissue examination (high complexity) if qualified by CLIA and company SOP.
- Prepare solutions and reagents for special stain procedures; obtain and validate control tissue.
- Perform all special stain procedures.
- Prepare solutions and reagents for IHC procedures; obtain and validate control material; perform IHC testing.
- Provide training and guidance to histotechnicians, students, and lab aides.
- Prepare non‑gynecological specimens, including cytopreparation, staining, cover slipping, and FNA specimens.
- Adhere to laboratory QC policies, document all QC activities, and identify outliers.
- Differentiate acceptable from unacceptable processing, embedding, cutting, and staining of tissue specimens.
- Develop, execute, or validate new procedures as needed.
- Identify and resolve problems that may affect test performance or reporting; report immediately to supervisor.
- Complete daily routine histology functions independently.
- Ensure all safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards are met.
- Maintain compliance with local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Other duties as assigned.
- AS degree or equivalent training and experience.
- HT (ASCP) certification.
- 3 years of histology experience.
- Current state licensure, if applicable.
- Meet all corporate policy requirements for minimum qualifications for a histotechnician and histology supervisor.
- If performing IHC, meet all corporate minimum qualifications for personnel performing IHC.
- BS degree.
- HTL (ASCP) certification.
- Graduate of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnology program.
- 6 years of histopathology experience.
- Immunohistochemistry experience.
- Must lift and carry objects ranging from 1–10 lb frequently, 11–25 lb occasionally, rarely more than 36–50 lb, and not over 50 lb without assistance.
- Ability to stand at bench for long periods and walk frequently.
- Use a variety of manual tools and instruments requiring significant dexterity.
