Electronic Bench Technician

Job Description

Position Summary

This position requires deep, practical knowledge of legacy Cisco hardware and software. The ideal candidate must be comfortable interfacing with customers and team members in identifying components, determining compatibility, configuring, and troubleshooting older Cisco chassis.

Position Detail

• Interact with customers and internal departments to troubleshoot boot failures, ROMMON issues, configuration problems, hardware failures, routing, switching, VLANs, trunking, STP, and Ether Channel so as to identify needed hardware models, determine module/line-card compatibility, and configure replacement devices.
• This requires a strong understanding of compatible modules, supervisors, line cards, interface cards, power supplies, and fan trays for platforms such as Cisco 7600 series and older systems that are EOL/EOS, as well as experience with Cisco IOS and legacy IOS versions, including loading, upgrading, downgrading, and recovery (via TFTP, etc.).
• Evaluate legacy equipment to determine the best path to maintain or replace it.
• Diagnostic and repair services for RMA’d materials.
• Must gain an understanding and knowledge of the CBM manufactured product line and be capable of diagnosing and repairing manufactured product.
• This requires having good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail, as well as the ability to follow detailed processes.
