The Cultural Affairs Facilities Supervisor

The Cultural Affairs Facilities Supervisor plays a central role in shaping the City of Pompano Beach’s cultural experience. This position is responsible for developing and supervising programming, community outreach, and operational support services for multiple cultural arts facilities, advancing the City’s mission to enrich the community through the arts.

Programming & Community Engagement
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement an annual, innovative programming calendar that reflects Pompano Beach’s cultural diversity and artistic vibrancy.
  • Oversee all performance and arts programming, including but not limited to music, dance, theatre, and multidisciplinary events.
  • Build and sustain partnerships with local, regional, and national arts organizations, cultural institutions, and community groups to expand audience reach and impact.
  • Work closely with the Programming Manager and marketing team to design and execute promotional strategies, including social media campaigns and press outreach.
Facility Operations & Event Management
  • Establish and maintain policies and procedures for each facility to ensure efficient, safe, and inclusive operations.
  • Oversee and manage facility rentals, ensuring client satisfaction and adherence to City guidelines.
  • Serve as on-site lead for productions, events, and some exhibitions, providing operational oversight from setup to breakdown.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of in-house staff, contracted personnel, and event technicians, including conducting performance evaluations.
  • Manage safety procedures and emergency protocols in compliance with public assembly standards.
Management
  • Create, implement, and monitor programming and event budgets.
  • Work with team members to ensure cost‑effective resource use without compromising program quality.
  • Marketing – Supervising collections of marketing assets. Working with the marketing department and programming manager to achieve marketing KPI’s.
Leadership & Team Collaboration
  • Support a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and professional development among staff.
  • Liaise effectively between public agencies, private partners, and community stakeholders.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Art, Performing Arts, Theater, Public Administration, Marketing, or a related field; OR a minimum of three (3) years’ professional experience in community outreach, cultural arts programming, or related fields.
  • Deep familiarity with South Florida’s cultural landscape and creative community is required.
  • Government experience and knowledge of intergovernmental operations preferred.
  • Experience with grant writing and resource development is a plus.
  • A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Key Competencies
  • Proven ability to work across the public and private sectors, building strong, trust-based relationships.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a talent for public speaking and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in project management tools, with experience in Smartsheet preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of public facility management, including safety practices for public events.
  • Ability to lead, supervise, and evaluate staff performance.
  • Experience coordinating logistics for cultural programs, including contracting, ticketing, budgeting, catering, security, and event settlement.
  • General marketing skills, including, media, social media, asset management, and managing marketing timelines.
